Eastern Europe Tour 2002

You'll be able to follow our trip using the map above. We departed San Francisco on Aug. 1st bound for Frankfurt, Germany. Then we immediately took a train from the airport to Prague, Czech Republic (1). We were very fortunate to leave that beautiful city one week before it suffered a severe flood. We returned to Frankfurt to meet our friends Dave and Karen at the airport then we all spent the afternoon of Aug. 6th on the train bound for Hamburg (2). After a day in Hamburg, we flew to Palanga (Klaipeda) Lithuania (3). Our mutual friend, Jackie Bartz, who currently lives in Klaipeda spent a couple of days showing us the town. Then we rode a bus to Vilinus (4) to meet the train to St. Petersburg, Russia on Aug. 10th (5). We departed St. Petersburg Aug 14th on an overnight train to Riga, Latvia (6) then caught the bus back to Klaipeda on Aug. 15th (7). Early on the morning of Aug. 16th, we flew back to Hamburg (8), caught the train bound for Cologne that afternoon and then on to Wassenburg/Myhl (9), where Ron's son, Dennis and his family live. After spending five days there, we took the train back to Frankfurt on Aug. 22nd for our flight off the map back to San Francisco. The following links will take you to our various destinations where you will be able to view some pictures and brouse through our daily journal.
